1. SAMUEL1 GOODWIN was born May 01, 1785 in South Carolina, and died February 14, 1872 in SC. He married DRUCILLA BRIGHT March 09, 1809, daughter of CHARLES BRIGHT and MARY GODFREY.

State of South Carolina
Marlborough County
I, Samuel Goodwin, being old and stricken in years but of sound and disposing mind do make and constitute this my last will and testament. As I have confidence in my son Ebenezer W. Goodwin and Lucy Ann his wife that they will take care of me during my natural life with care and affection and for so doing I will and bequeath to them all the property I possess at my death consisting of a house and lot at Bennettsville, SC which the deed I hold will show also a plantation with all its improvements lieing and being in the same County and State aforesaid on the West side of Crooked Creek on the old Wise Road adjoining lands of said Ebnezer W. Goodwin of which I hold a deed which will show the course and direction thereof also all my Notes of hand also those on Suit and judgements the receipts which I have from Miss Townsend & Hudson will show. A s to the reguard my other children John Goodwin my son Daughter Matilda Daughter Pemelia My daughter Emlie My son Frank deceased. I have previously given them all I intended they should have . I hereby constitute and appoint my son Ebenezer W. Goodwin my Sole executor to execute this my last will and Testament-in witness where of I hereunto set my hand and affix my seal in the year of our Lord on thousand eight-hundred and Sixty nine January the fifteenth day. Attest-He signed the will Sgoodwin note the lower case G in Goodwin Witnessed by A. Beverly, W.C. Stancel, Jos R. Liles

Mrs. Druscilla Goodwin was ,on the 1850 census, living in the home of D.C. Wright. Samuel , her husband was still living.

  v.   EBENEZER WESTCOT GOODWIN, b. May 02, 1823, SC; d. January 03, 1894, SCarolina; m. LUCY ANN STUBBS.
  Notes for EBENEZER WESTCOT GOODWIN:
Was one of three men from Marlboro Co.,SC who signed the ordinance of secession, withdrawing South Carolina from the Union. He was a merchant, owned a grist mill and a large amount of property. He and his wife had no children, but raised the children of his brother Frank who was being mistreated by a step-mother in Miss. E.W. sent a wagon, horses and driver to get him from Hinds Co.,Miss. Frank was later killed in a 'beef shoot' in 1866 in Miss.
