1. JAMES1 COLLINS was born 1640 in England, and died 1730 in Perquimans County N.C.
Notes for JAMES COLLINS:
In Nell Marion Nugents book Cavaliers and Pioneers we find in vol.1 a James Collins who came to Virgina in early 1664 and received a patient for 400 acres in Nancimond County,11 Mar 1664[Nugent,p.195].According to the rules at the time, everyone who paid his own way to Virgina received 50 acres of land, and if they paid the passage for others,he received 50 acres each. They were of course, obliged to work for there sponsor until the passage cost was repaid.James Collins paid the way for John Bennett,Richard Harris,Nathaniel Gordan and Daniel Mackneal. One name was lost and 3 persons more died after their arrival in Virgina.
The Collins property in Virgina was very close to North Carolina and descendents of James Collins acquired additional land in North Carolina,or moved completely into North Carolina. He himself seems to have crossed the line into Perquimans County where his will was probated 19 May 1730 with his son William as executer of his estate, along with his second wife Lucee. She herself died about the same time, since his and her wills were both probated on the same date.A son Thomas, was born by the second wife.
