After both parents died Harry and Bessie K. went to live with their mothers sister Elma Mae Sims Owens.
Application For Admission of Orphan to Masonic Home Alabama Sims was listed as Guardian of Harry and Bessie K. Harper. On February 25, 1930 Alabama Sims made her Mark X on the Application as Guardian that she was unable to provide for said children and ask the Masonic Homes to take them. Application was made April 11, 1930 and they arrived at Orphanage June 01, 1930. All Aunts and Uncle's on the Sims side stated they were not able to support the children. No Harper's were found during this process. On April 11, 1932 there Aunt Ruby Harper McRae of Ellisville Mississippi took them out of the Orphanage and gave them a home.
Census 1930, Mississippi, Scott County, All Townships, District 1, page 24 Harry and Bessie K. were living with Sam Owens wife Ella Mae and four children John D., Betty, Corey, and Sam Jr.
Robert Harper served in the Army from October 03, 1942 to January 13, 1946. He was in the 731st ORD. CO., was in the New Guinea and South Philippine Campaigns, was discharged from the service at the rank of SGT.
