HARRISON HARPER PNEUMONIA VICTIM
Beloved Citizen of Forest Dies in Hospital at Vicksburg; Buried in Forest
FOREST, Jan. 18 - This little city was wrapped in gloom, when the news was flashed over the wires that Harrison Harper, had passed away at 2:30 that morning, at Street's sanatorium, Vicksburg, where he had been carried about a week previous, suffering with pneumonia following an attack of measles. Here all that science and loving care could do proved of no a wail. Mr. Harper was 37 years of age; in terms of service these years could not be multiplied. As son, husband and father, his devotion to loved ones was unparalleled. He seemed to anticipate every wish of those dear to him, and was untiring in his efforts to make others happy. His life was one of service; in his quiet gentle manner, he was ever busy in loving deeds, and thoughtfulness. During the recent flu epidemic, he gave of his time, strength, and talents and when stricken, his tired body could not resist the Dread malady - pneumonia, In church, civic, business and fraternal circles, he was faithful. He was titler-elect of Forest Blue Lodge, No. 437 and associate worthy patron-elect of Forest O. E. S. Mr. Harper was employed in the signal service department of the Y. and M. V. About twelve years ago he came to Forest, soon after this he married Miss Willie Sims.To this union were born two children, Bessie Kent, 10 years old and Harry, age 5. Besides these, he leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs, Willie Harper, of Collins; two brothers Walter, of Meridian and George, of Starkville; two sisters Mrs. Lelia Lofton of Collins and Mrs. Ruby McRae of Ellisville. Funeral services were conducted from the Baptist church of which he was a consistent member. Rev. J. M. Battle of Presbyterian church officiating. The Masons had charge of the service at Eastern cemetery, where interment took place. The beautiful Flowers from friends far and near, bore silent tribute of the esteem and love cherished ??????? this good citizen.
