MARK WICGIN SOMERVILLE
“Mark Wiggin Somerville; son of Mr. and Mrs. 'W.
E. Somerville, died at his home on Ella Ave., Friday morning, Oct. 25th, 1918;
Immediate cause of death being influenza.
He had been ill with tuberculosis for the past two years and on October
16th was taken sick with influenza but owing to his weak condition was unable
to resist the attach-
Mark W. Somerville was born in Brown County near
Sleepy Eve, Minn., on May 26, 1883. In
1898 he moved up to Chippewa County with his parents. Since that time he has lived around and in Raymond until three
years ago he moved to Willmar with his family where they have resided since.
In 1904 Mark was married to Ethel Doble who died
a year after their marriage. In 1906 he
was·married to Edith Doble, who survives him.
Five children blessed this union, Harold, Florence, Violet, Evangeline
and Derwin. He is also mourned by his
father, step mother, two brothers, one sister, two half brothers and four half
sisters, Earl of Raymond, Minn., Mrs. E. M. Chesebrough of LeRoy, Minn., Max of
Ihlen, Minn., Lee, Mrs. B.W. Parmeter, Esther, Isabel, Raymond and·Viola of
this city.
The funeral services were held last Sunday
morning at 10:30 from the home in spite of the gloomy day, Rev. Luther Benson
of the Methodist Episcopal Church officiating.
The other members of the family are just
recovering from an attack of the same malady. The deceased was a devout
Christian man.
The pallbearers were Ed Johnson and Alfred
Reusink of Raymond, John and Hugh Ruddy of this city.
Those unable to attend the funeral services were
Mrs. E.·M. Chesebrough of, LeRoy, Lee and Raymond of this city, all of whom
were confined to their homes with sickness.
Max came down from his home at Ihlen, Saturday afternoon but was unable
to stay for the funeral owing to the serious illness of his wife.”
