According to the book "The House of Mansur", recognized by the Sons of the American Revolution and the Daughters of the American Revolution, as the "official" source for Mansur lore, the family came into England from France. Hence the name, originally spelled Mansour, is of French origin. The first of the family (our line) to come to the U.S. was a Robert Mansur, who emigrated from Ipswich, England about 1670.
