The Haumersen Family

The Haumersen family arrived in Wisconsin from Germany in 1867 and at about that same time some members moved from Germany to the Netherlands. The Dutch branch then sent some members to the USA in 1952 these Haumersens, so far as I can determine went to Michigan. A few members of the family changed the spelling of their name to Haumerson and some in the Neatherlands changedthe spelling to Hommersen. The concentration of the family is in Wisconsin, in and around Racine and in Michigan in the southwestern region of the sate. At this time I have located about 390 members of the family here and abroad. The exact family link between the branch in the Netherlands and those who came to the USA has not been established, however it appears that Adolph Haumersen of Germany, born in 1801, is the primary source of the family name of both branches. I am searching for the connection with the help of John Christian Haumersen of Apeldorn, Netherlands. Most recently Eric Hommersen from the Netherlands and Roeland (Pete) Hommersen from Canada contacted me with information about the connection between Hommersen and Haumersen. We are attempting to make the connection through our various trees. Eric informed me that there may be some of the family in Sweden but we have been unable to verify that. As of May 4, 1997, I have entered the data recieved from a German net user who sent me thirty odd names listed in the German phone books to start adding German information to the file. If you have corrections to the data I have here or additions please send it via e-mail at the address given below. We're always working on the Tree. Last item, we have been holding a family reunion during the summer in early July most years. It is held at my house on the Sunday nearest the 4th of July. There are games, swimming and food for all.
