"This was told to me (Audrey Jones) by Ruth Cliburn White, daughter of Marshall Cliburn: James Barnes Cliburn married Anna Matthews, and they lived with Anna's large family. James was distressed by the lack of privacy. It is said people would even come and look in the windows of the room the young couple lived in. So James built a home on nearby land, and when it was ready, Anna refused to leave her family and move in. James left and went to South Mississippi. The boy, Marshall, grew up, married, and when his son, Andrew, was six months old, Marshall rode the train and met his father in Laurel, Mississippi, and a reconciliation took place."
Audrey adds the following: "I know that when I was a child, the first and second families were reconciled, and visited with each other."
