Descendants of John Coppock

Generation No. 2

      3. Aaron2 Coppock (John1) was born December 25, 1662 in Mobberley,Cheshire,Eng, and died October 10, 1726 in East Nottingham, Chester, Pa1. He married (1) Mary Orrell January 1687/88 in Mobberley,Cheshire,Eng. She was born Abt. 1668 in Mobberley,Cheshire,Eng, and died 1701 in At Sea. He married (2) Miriam Short December 11, 1704 in Delaware, Pike, Pa2, daughter of Henry Short and Miriam Ingram. She was born May 10, 1664 in Ford Parrish, Sussex, England, and died Aft. 1726 in , , Pa3.

Notes for Aaron Coppock:
Aaron's birtday is listed by many as being 25 October 1662. The record that is most commonly refered to as documentation says ye 25 day 10 month 1662. Prior to 1752 the 10th month was December, not October. His baptisim was definitely on Jan 6 1666. I might add that since Aaron and Susan married 4 Jun 1662 and Aaron's older sister Rose was baptised 30 Nov 1662 I do not think that it would be possible for Aaron to have been born in 1662. Aaron and Susan baptised children in 1662-Rose, 1664-Francis, 1666-Aaron, 1669-Hannah and 1671-Martha.

I might also point out that Susan died 18 Oct 1684 and was buried at the Church of England in Mobberley. This means at this point they were not Quakers so Quaker practices do not apply here. His first born child was buried at the Church of England graveyard on 9 Feb 1691. The first indication that he had turned Quaker was in 1695 when he was fined 1lb for failure to tithe to Church of England. He paid the fine in corn. Somewhere between these dates Aaron and family must have turned Quaker.

Notes for Mary Orrell:
Mary was living when Aaron and family were given a certificate of transfer. It indicated that on September 3, 1701 Aaron and family had left for Bristol, port of embarcation. She was not alive by the time Aaron and children arrived in America. She either died enroute to Bristol or at sea.

Notes for Miriam Short:
Arrived in Philadelphia in 1682 aboard the ship "Welcome". Shortly after their arrival in America Miriam and A George Thompson were married by a Lawerence Lockenius, a Lutheran Minister. Both were charged with violation of the laws of the province. No one appeared against George so the charges were dropped on 14 Feb 1683. By 6 Nov 1684, Miriam applied for public maintenance for herself and a young child. George Thompson either deserted her or their marriage was dissolved after the 1684 court date. In 1698 George was still around and listed amoung the married men of a church. She subsequently married a William White and bore him four children. William's will was probated on 14 September 1703.
