Thomas Black,* (son of David Black,*) was born Abt. 1740, and died 15 Mar 1779 in West of Shelby, N.C.. He married Elizabeth Unknown,*.
Notes for Thomas Black,*: Thomas owned land on the Broad River where he died in 1779 while only in his late 30s. The earliest records of the Black family are of Thomas Black (1741?-1779) and his wife Elizabeth (1749?-?) in Lincoln County in the 1770s. His widow Elizabeth was one of the executors as recorded in the Lincoln County Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions. She also seems to have inherited; in 1797 she gifted the Broad River plantation to her son-in-law, Ambrose Cobb (husband of Rachel Black).
Children of Thomas Black,* and Elizabeth Unknown,* are:
+Ephraim Black,*, b. 11 Feb 1767, near present day Cherryville, N.C., d. 24 Sep 1843, Cherryville, N.C..
