Notes for John Jabwain:
In a book, New York Marriages Previous to 1784 (Baltimore, Genealogical Publishing Co., 1968, available at DAR Library) Thomas Jabine found two marriages listed on p.200: March 4, 1763 - Thomas Howard to Catherine Jabwain, and April 27, 1765, John Jabwain to Rebecca Green (M.B. ix iii)

It seems likely that Jabwain was the transitional spelling between Jabouin and Jabine, and that John and Rebecca were the parents of Nicholas. It is plausible, and at this time, given the dates and locations we consider John Jabwain the likely son of Nicholas Jabouin and Nicholas Jabine as his son. This proposed lineage is further reenforced by the following: 1) Grandfather & grandson have the same name - Nicholas, and 2) Nicholas Jabine gave his proven, eldest son and daughter, John and Rebecca, the names of his own parents.

Revolutionary War Pension and Bounty Land Warrant Application Files 1800-1900. M804. 2,670 rolls. DP. - Information is available on roll # 1397 for Jabine, John--Jackson, Benjamin.

From New York wills (note the connections to Pelham, lending more creedance to the story that Thomas Hunt was Lord Pelham's great, great grandson per Read family tradition that "Thomas mother was granddaughter of the Lord of Pelham's only daughter, Ann."):

An earlier Thomas Hunt also re: Westchester (clearly married to a Buckbee and having a brother Abner). Could one of these be father, grandfather, uncle? Tie-in to Pelhams?:
