James Lacon Beard (son of James Lacon Beard and Mary Ann Salt) was born Abt. 1840 in Old Swinford, Worcestershire, England, and died 28 March 1920 in Forest Grove, Woodend, Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia. He married Elizabeth Badland on 17 July 1859 in St Mary, Enville Parish Church, Staffordshire, England, daughter of Richard Badland and Mary Ann Lyster.

James' cause of death was Valvular disease of the heart and heart failure.
