Amelia B. Healey 13357 Four Square Road Smithfield,VA 23430 757-365-0749 | Descendents of William Healey b. 1613 through Thayers, Mansfields in MA from 1630s; McDowell, Snodgrass, Long from VA to Iowa to Colorado 1700-1930s; Knoblock, Winterhalter, Shaw -Germany, France, Alabama from early 1800s on; Blake, Vaughan, Johnston, McMillan Pearce, - Virginia, North Carolina from 1660s on.I am researching my husband's family from MA early on with very early settlers - they kept good records. His mother's family migrated west and have all passed away (McDowell, etc) so I have few clues.Other than Cordelia Kite(Kight) married a gentleman named McDowell, supposedly kin to Gen McDowell, who was killed by an irate sow (a story here?) and later remarried .Her daughter married Charles A. Snodgrass and travelled with his profession - they had three daughters-and both died in Denver. She (Harriett Belle McDowell Snodgrass) in Sep 1939.He predeceased her.My side of the chain is much smaller, but covers VA, NC, Al, Scotland, France, and Germany. The 'God blessed Mcs" came over in the 1700s and family lore has it that Flora McDonald was the sister of my ancestor (Ronald/Ranald/Runnel McMillan) - anyone interested in buying a large bridge? My dad's people were early in Va so I've been told and one of the areas is Gloucester which is one of the 'burned counties' where few records survived.Ledford Vaughan and Robert Norman Blake are two of the names here |
