Notes for Jewel Maxine Barnett: Jewel completed H.S. at Beat Four H.S. in Wayne County, MS. After completing a business course at Draughn's Business College in Jackson she and Dawan were married. During the first 8 years of their marriage she worked at various secretarial jobs as she followed Dawan in his career. After her first child, Don, was born she spent the next 20 years as a successful mother and housewife. After her four children reached an age where she felt comfortable about going back to work she re-entered the business world. She retired as administrative assistant to the Tax Assessor/Appraiser for the City of Plano, Texas in 1987. After moving back to Wayne county, MS to her family farm she continued to stay busy in her church activities and as a loving housewife and grandmother. She died May 8, 2001 of peritonitis, pneumonia and heart failure due to perforated diverticulum.
