Notes for Rebecca TARWATER: Rebekah Fletcher joined the Little Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Franklin County, IN on 7 Mar 1812 received by letter along with Rachel Rowland (daughter). She was granted dismission from the church by request on March 13, 1814 along with Jenny McGuire (sister-in-law?). This was after David's term in the Indiana Militia expired. It is believed she requested dismission because they were migrating to MO. They next appear in 1817 in Howard County, MO (which later became Ray County, MO).
Rebecca is buried in Section 3 in the Riffe Cemetery, Orrick, MO. Rocks outline her grave site. Her headstone reads, "wife of David". According to an article "History, Stories on the Knolls of Riffe Cemetery", that appeared on 12 April 1879 on Page 7 in The Richmond (MO) News, Orrick Area NEWS; The inscription on her headstone reads almost like a puzzleis as follows: REBEccAKFLETcHERTHEWIFEoFdAVIDFLETcHERdIEDTHE12daYoFFEBRUARY1850. It states, "Near the trees is a delicately sculpted, curved gravestone slender against the cold wind and bright sunshine.... Propped against that monument for Rebecca K. Fletcher are several pieces of broken gravestones."
