I am researching the family history of the HEINECKE and FUCHS surnames. Other major family surnames include ALAMINSKI, ALBERS, BAUER, BERTSCH, CITZLER, CORDES, ERDMANN, FISCHER, GAU, GERDES, HENGST, KEILERS, KNITTLE, KRAATZ, LANGE, LENERT, MAECKEL, MARQUART, MARTENS, MARTH, MOELLENBERNDT, ROLOFF, SCHELLBURG, WITT, and WOLFF. All of my ancestors settled in central Texas in the mid to late 1800s. Many exact points of origin are not yet known, but known sites include Mecklenburg-Strelitz; Badersleben, Cammin, and Mollenbeck, Mecklenburg-Schwerin; Ratibor, Silesia; and Brieg County, Silesia, and Moravia. It had a dogtrot, detached kitchen, and underground cellar. Probably the only remaining structure from the original settlers of the Mecklenburg, Fayette Co., TX area. Built by John Gau, my great-great grandfather. Now a B&B in Round Top, TX. Carl Wolff House (251 KB) Typical German farmhouse from Mecklenburg area of Fayette County, TX. Built c1880.
