Although the Heintzberger name is not a common one, we have identified two branches of the family. We will label one branch as the Johannes Hendrikus(or Dutch)branch and the other as the Karel (or Belgian) branch. The known history of each branch has been identified as dating back to the 1850-1860 era. Our guess is that Karel and Johannes may have been brothers although this is a pure guess. We do know that Johannes was orphaned at an early age. Information on the Belgian branch has been provided by Rudiger Heintzberger of Sint-Niklaas, Belgium while information on the Dutch branch has been gathered by Henry Heintzberger of San Mateo, Calif., USA.

To help you identify each branch but at the same time preserve some semblance of privacy, we will list only an older generation, all of whom are now deceased.
In the Dutch branch,Johannes Hendrikus Heintzberger,( 1854-1932) born in Zutphen, Holland and his wife Gerritje Verbeek (1858-1931 settled in Doesburg Holland where they raised a family of 14 children.
We have identified nine of his children as follows:
Johanna Heintzberger (Abt 1880 -Abt 1955)-Lived in Holland
Marie Heintzberger Meurs (Abt 1890-1982) -Lived in Holland
Hendrik Johanas Heintzberger (1882-1942) -Lived in Mishawaka, Ind
Frans Carel Heintzberger (1884-1928) -Lived in Mishawaka, Ind
Willem Heintzberger (Abt 1886-Abt 1948) -Lived in Chicago, Ill
John Martin Heintzberger(Abt 1887-Abt 1962)-Lived South Bend, In
Leo Anicetus Heintzberger (Abt 1890-1930)-Lived in Holland
Petrus Nico Heintzberger (Abt 1892-1969)-Lived in Holland
Wilhelmina S Heintzberger Wamelink (1895-1981)-Lived in Holland

In the Belgian branch, Karel Heintzberger (Abt 1860) was the father of Antonius (1888 in Hilversum), Anton (1911 in Germany), Karel ( 1913 in Germany) and Leenard (1916 in Wageningen).
We have identified their descendants in Belgium and believe that there are a few more in Australia.

The family and its descendants has become quite large and includes many associated families. A partial list of the associated families that have offspring are the Wamelinks of Holland, the Weinkaufs of Mishawaka, Ind, the Paylings of Australia, the Hambleys of Kentucky, the Loughlins of Mishawaka, Ind, the Meurs of Holland and the Crowsons of Australia and more Heintzbergers in Australia. At the present time, March14, 2001 there are Heintzbergers living in Holland, Canada, United States and Australia. We would be happy to receive information about any member of the family or associated families. Our family tree now has over 400 individuals, and we will be happy to share our information with any one who is interested in the family.
