Launch of the Hanna
The naval destroyer HANNA was commissioned on 4 July 1944 at US Steel's Federal shipyard at Port Newark, New Jersey. The HANNA was named after USMC Pvt. William T. "Billy" Hanna, killed 9 Oct 1942 in the service of his country at Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands. Billy Hanna was my mother's fist cousin.
