Eliza Newcomb, married James Manée in 1849 in Staten Island, New York, home to a large clan of Manées who originated from the Huguenot Monnett line from ancient Poitou, France in the 1500s. Eliza's paternal grandfather was Revolutionary War soldier, Pvt. Daniel Newcomb, 8th Artillery, Connecticut line. Eliza and her husband James Manée adopted (1888) and reared my grandfather, George Cook Manée because his mother, Mattie E. Manée divorced her first husband (George's father), Henry F.
