I am researching both the Helsdown and the Shatford family history. The Helsdown side appears to originate from Hastings, Sussex and appears to have a number of variations to the spelling eg. HELSDOWN, ELSDOWN, HELSDON, ELSDON,HILSDON. The Shatford side appears to originate in Kettering, Northamptonshire. I would be very happy to hear from anyone who recognises anyone in my tree. |
