Peter Helebrant, 82 years of age, died at his home one and one half miles east of Ramsey at 11 o'clock Monday night after a brief illness of but three days with the grip.

Mr. Helebrant was about as usual Friday and a number of his friends called on him. He joked with them in his ever jovial manner. On Saturday he said he thought he was going to have the grip. On Saturday afternoon he took to his bed. It was not thought at the time that he was seriously sick.

Mr. Helebrant was a man who was held in much esteem by all who knew him and they were many. He was by nature of a kind yet jovial nature that drew men to him.

Mr. Helebrant was born in Krakow, Austria, April 29, 1829. He was married to Vernie Seifert and they came to America in 1867 and remained in Chicago for three years. In 1870 they came to this county where he bought 40 acres of land where he has made his home ever since. He and Antone Schradle were the first two Bohemians to locate in what is now the Bohemian Settlement. Mr. Helebrant was not afraid of hard work and he added to his farm until he had 160 acres. This he recently sold to his daughter Annie Levy. There are left to mourn a widow and three children; Peter of this city; Mrs. Josephine Vodraska and Mrs. Annie Levy.

The funeral will be held Thursday morning at 10 AM from the house. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in this city.

In 1869 the family moved to this county and settled in the neighborhood where she has since spent 43 years of her life. In 1885 they moved into the house where she died. Her husband died a year ago. The New Year found her in good spirits and apparent good health. She had good hearing and good sight and was full of fun. On January 3rd she was taken ill, but retained consciousness until Tuesday night. At the time of her death, there were present at her bedside all of her children and six grandchildren. She is survived by three children; Peter Helebrant; Mrs. Josephine Vodraska; and Mrs. Annie Levy. It was with Mrs. Levy that Mrs. Helebrant lived during her last years.
