ALGONA, Iowa - Funeral services for John P. Levy, of Algona, Iowa, who died June 27, 1994, at North Iowa Mercy Health Center - East, Mason City, Iowa, will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Algona, Iowa, with Pastor Doug Hoag officiating.
Interment will be at the Riverview Cemetery, Algona, Iowa.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. tonight at the Geilenfeld - Murphy - Schaaf Funeral Home, Algona, Iowa.
He was born Aug. 2, 1924, in Austin to Edward Levy, Sr., and Ethel (Grant) Levy. He graduated from Austin High School in 1942. He joined the U.S. Navy and after service returned to Austin. He married Lillian Schwartz on March 17, 1945, in Austin. They lived in Austin and he worked at the Hormel plant and then they moved to Clear Lake, Iowa. In 1957 they moved to Algona, Iowa, and purchased the North Iowa Appliance Store, started the Sportsman Corner, and also had a Western Clothing Store. They operated the establishments until June of 1978. He sold the appliance store in February of 1978. He was a representative for Roberts Specialties in this area. He was a member of the Algona Lions Club, former member of the V.F.W. Post no. 2541, and he had served on the city council and on the fire department. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, traveling and hunting and trap shooting.
Survivors include his wife, Lilian; daughters, Diana (Mrs. Robert) Claude, of Marietta, Ga; Deb (Mrs. Roy) Scott, Bode, Iowa; son, Dan Sullivan, of Des Moines, Iowa; four grandchildren; brothers, Edward, of Brownsdale, and Delmar, of Owatonna; and sisters, Marian (Mrs. Harold) Lobbins, of Wilmar, and Marilyn (Mrs. Dave) Tebay, of Austin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Leonard and Robert.

OWATONNA - A funeral service for Shirley L. Levy, 53, Rt. 1, Owatonna, formerly of the Brownsdale area, who died Dec. 2 at her home, will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Crane Community Chapel, the Rev. Joe Matt officiating. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery.
Friends may call at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and at the church one hour before the service on Saturday.
Mrs. Levy was born Oct 9, 1939, in Preston to Gene and Ione Jepson. She graduated from high school in Jerome, Idaho. She was married Oct. 30, 1958, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa to Delmar Levy. She had been employed at the Owatonna Tool Company.
Survivors include her husband, Delmar Levy, Owatonna; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Dale and Monica Levy, Claremont, and Doug Levy, Owatonna; a daughter, Denise Gaul, Owatonna; five grandchildren, Dana, Diana, and Duane Levy, all of Claremont, and Stephanie and Stephen Gaul, Owatonna; her mother, Ione LaBelle, Stewartville; her father, Gene Jepson, Idaho; former son-in-law, Scott Gaul; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Judy and Richard Renaux, Orlando, Fla., Marsha and Bill Stephens, Spring Valley, Jackie and Mike Bock, Rochester, and Terri Larson, Stewartville; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronnie and Rose Jepson, Rochester, Keith Jepson, Rochester, and Larry and Kaye Jepson, Stewartville. She was preceded in death by a son, Dean Levy and a sister, Patty.

Formerly of Austin, he was a resident of Hampton, Iowa, where he was self-employed.
Surviving are his wife, Phyllis; a son, Norman of Hampton; his father, Edward Levy Sr., Austin; three brothers, Edward Levy, Brownsdale; John Levy, Algona, Iowa; Delmar Levy, Owatonna; two sisters, Marian Lobbins, New London, Minn.; Marilyn Tebay, Austin.
Funeral services will be held Friday at Hampton.
