| Welcome to the RENO-JOSEY Family Home Page. I am currently searching for the origins of my great, great grandfather, Eli RENO. He is listed in the 1850 Federal Census for Champlain, Clinton Co., NY as Eli RANO, along with his parents, Thomas and Adelaide RANO, and siblings. Eli was born in Canada in about 1838. The family is said to be of Huguenot origin. They are found in Detroit, MI in the 1860 Census. Related families, all of whom ended up in the Detroit area, include CLARKE (Scotland by way of Ontario) LICHTENBERG (Germany - 1860's), TINSMAN, MCCRACKEN (New Jersey) HOSNER, BEACH, SUTPHEN (New York), DELAND and HEWITT (Vermont). I am also looking for information on another great, great grandfather, Benjamin JOSEY of Sumner Co., TN and later Christian Co. and Muhlenburg Co., KY. His grandfather, John Josey, was born in NC and migrated to Sumner Co. in about 1796. From Kentucky the JOSEY family migrated to Saline Co., IL and finally to Detroit between the World Wars. Families related to the JOSEY clan include BASS, RAMEY, ROMACK, MELVEN, LAWRENCE, MURRAY, and FOSTER. I hope you will contact me if you think there are connections with your own family tree. |
