The Hugh Hempills of Pleasanton, CAUpdated January 23, 2002 |

| I am researching both my husband's family and my own family. My mother's family came to the U.S. from Scotland between 1891 and 1901 and settled in Chicago. Both sides of the family were named Morrison; however, their ancestry included Munro, McLeod, MacDonald and McKay. My father's family came from Germany between 1852 and 1872 and settled in Chicago. His grandfather on his father's side was a Kurth and his grandmother on his mother's side was a Schmidt who married a Sommer. My husband's family all settled in Pennsylvania. They arrived in the U.S. in the early 19th century. The Hempill or Hemphill, Sigel and Fink families came from Germany. The Grahams came from Scotland. Other names are McConnell, Mitchell, Elder and Harlan. |
