John Hemphill was born Dervock,Ireland Aug 26,1836. He came to the U.S. about 1858 and went to Clay Center, Ks until he enlisted in civil war in Feb,1864 to end of the war. He married Henrietta A Simons July 5, 1866. They had 8 children,Martha Hannah B 1867,Hugh Harten B Feb 19 1869 my grandfather,William S B 1871 ,John S B 1873,Alice D B1874,George S B1878,Ralph S B1880 Mattie D B1886,. All of the childern were born in Salina, Ks. John and Henrietta were divorced and she lived with a son in Minnesota until she died July 18, 1914 in Nevis Mn. |
