* Hemphill Family Tree: From Dunmull to Burnside (1814-2007)*

Updated January 5, 2010

This document attempts to trace and link the Hemphill family line to our common ancestors in Ayrshire, Scotland. The document is a work in progress and will be continually updated as new evidence and information is uncovered. We would like to thank the following people for their efforts in making this research possible:

Grace Bowers who created the first Hemphill Geneaology document and carried out the initial research into the family line. The information supplied by Grace in 2001 has formed the foundation and inspiration for this document.

Linda Wade who has been a continual source of information over the last year providing photographs, stories and crucial details about our common ancestors.

Elwin Hemphill and Dave Roberts who have provided background and important evidence about generations from our line who emigrated to America and Russia in the 19th Century.

Adeline Hemphill who contributed a large collection of photographs and family memorabilia to assist our efforts in putting faces to the many names included in this history.

David McCollough for kindly providing photographs of the Dunmull cottages.

We would also like to thank the following for their continued help and support in this research: Annie Jolly, Allison Hemphill, Vincent Logan, Daphne Hemphill, May Boyce, Roy Hemphill, Gladys Blann, Sammy Hemphill, the late William Hemphill, his wife Annie and Letty Hemphill.

If you are related to anybody in this Hemphill family line we would love to hear from you and welcome any information you might have to share. Please contact Robert Hemphill at the following address:
