2. JOSIAH² GOODALL (PAUL¹) was born Abt. 1760 in Connecticut, and died 1820 in Madison Co. , Virginia. He married REBECCA BROOKS May 11, 1790 in East Glastonbury, Hartford Co., Connecticut, daughter of JOEL BROOKS and REBEKAH GOSLEE.

Notes for JOSIAH GOODALL:
Josiah is said to have been liberally educated but when grown went to sea aboard a fishing schooner.
He quit the sea because of his health and in about the year 1802 or 1803 moved south, spending a year or two in Massachusetts and a few years in the State of New York, arriving in Virginia in about 1808 and settling on a small farm in Madison County where he died in 1820.

Note by William Scott Simpson: One Josiah Goodale married Rebecca Brooks in East Glastonbury, Hartford County, Connecticut on May ll, 1790.

Notes for REBECCA BROOKS:
Rebecca was the daughter of Joel Brooks who also came from Scotland about the year 1750 with his family and settled in the same area as Paul Goodall.

JOEL BROOKS³ GOODALL, b. 1791.

Notes for JOEL BROOKS GOODALL:
Per document by Wm. Goodall, Joel Brooks Goodall was raised by his grandparents, the Brooks, and was educated to be a Presbyterian minister. When he was approx. 19 years old he became a missionary to the Sandwish Islands and was never heard from again . It is presumed he had been illed by cannibals.
