2. SAMUEL⁷ TOMLINSON (JOHN DOE⁶, ZACHARIAH⁵, ZACHARIAH⁴, AGUR³, HENRY², GEORGE¹) was born Bet. 1781 - 1785 in NJ or Pa, and died 1868 in Cross Keys, NJ. He married RACHEL SMITH CHEW Unknown in Pa or NJ, daughter of THOMAS SMITH and SARAH MILLER. She was born Abt. 1783 in Unk, and died Unknown in Unk.

Notes for SAMUEL TOMLINSON:
Information furnished to this submitter listed Samuel with parents unknown but linked him as the ggreatson of Zachariah Tomlinson of Connecticut. To date, the family has been unable to prove this but our research continues. Any information would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Per William Hughes compilation dated Nov. 29, 1976, a death certificate was issued in 1914 and is in possession of the family.

His occupation is listed as a farmer .

Information from The Sparks Collection "Cross Keys and Nearby Communities" found at the Gloucester Co. Historical Society in Woodbury, New Jersey, reveals that Samuel came from Pa and first lived at "Baum's Pond," now Janvier, and later settled on White Oak Branch two miles south of Cloes Mill. The same source indicates that he married Rachel Smith Chew and they had ten children - five with red hair like the father and five with black hair like the mother.

Notes for RACHEL SMITH CHEW:
Rachel Smith first married John Doe Chew and probably had two children by him prior to her marriage to Samuel Tomlinson.

To date we have been unable to find where Rachel was born and which Chew she married. Much research has been done and any help would be appreciated.
