| This Page is dedicated to documentation of the Hayes Clan of Rockcastle Co. Kentucky. My Hayes family has been in that area for going on 2 centuries and has roots back into Tennessee, North Carolina, and Virginia. There are two distinct lines resident in Rockcastle County in the middle and late 1800's. There is a line which apparently descends from an Adrian Hays who came directly from Virginia. I will be adding this line as I can figure it out. Any help would be appreciated. As best has been figured out, with some information only circumstantial, the family here documented is descended from a Thomas Hayes, Sr. out of North Carolina. He in turn goes back to George Hayes who died in Virginia. Please note below the links to other researchers pages on George and other related families. Please consider everything here as information to be verified from your own research and not just taken as completely proven. Our research group has striven to be as accurate as possible, but errors will always occur in any genealogical data file. This area is also to share data on any of the families that are linked to this extended Hayes Clan. Those who have confirmed sources of data are welcome to send me their information or their web address for inclusion on this page. This families include Marler, Price, Graves, Pitman, Linville, McClure, Renner, Reynolds, Rucker, Payne and many others. For the sake of individual's privacy, I have privitized the information for all living individuals. Consequently, all their dates will show as "Private" instead of the actual data. I must eat some crow and confess to having done some incomplete research. A few years ago, I made an assumption based on the recollection of a distant cousin and one census record. The 1860 Warren County, Tennessee census showed a son of D.G. Marler about the right age to be my John Wesley Marler. With this limited information, I made a connection from John Wesley Marler, born 1852-1857 in Tennessee, to Gillum B. Marler of Warren County TN. This census shows that Gillum and Elizabeth had sons John and James. These two are not in the 1870 Warren county Census. A reasonable assumption is that they died. This is based on contact with a descendant of Gillum who has no family stories or documentation of John or James. Further research has revealed that this is not the correct connection as my John and James were in Kentucky from 1860. If anyone has this link between John Wesley and Gillum in their database, please break that link. My sincerest apologies to anyone this may have caused to make an incorrect connection. I do still believe that Gillum Marler's parents were Stephen and Sarah Barker Marler. Also Stephen's parents were Allen Michael and Mary Marler. I have updated the Allen Michael Marler report (shown below) to reflect the changes made above. As of Oct of 2002, I have come up with a further update to the family of Stephen and Sarah Marler. This came about when an email contact asked me for sources on the Berry Marler in my report. When I looked, I did not have sources listed, so I had to go back and figure out what they were. I had shown prior to 2002 that they had a son named Berry. This was based on information in a World Family Tree entry. This was World family tree, Volume 2, tree # 1153. There is no way that the data included in that tree fits with the available census information. I have updated my information to show that this Berry was in actuality Becca or Rebecca Marler. So if you show a Berry Marler in this family it would be wise to correlate the different census information to see if you came to the same conclusion as I. |
