August, 1980- conversation with Mahalia D. (Moore) Headley (Aunt "Hake") reveals Julius Moore rode a horse to Tennessee and nothing was ever heard from since. It is believed he died in Tennessee. Wife and/or children unknown. One Walter Moore came from Tennessee into Chilton County and stayed...the family believed he may have been related to Julius Moore.
March 15, 1980...Mrs. Dora (Moore) Jones, daughter of John Moore (1829) and his second wife, Tabitha (Dennis) Moore resides at the Estes Nursing Home in Montgomery. She is very hard of hearing and conversation was difficult. She relates that her fatber had a sister, Sallie, that married a "Popwell". She also relates that Watts Moore of Clanton, (deceased) was her first cousin. Watts Moore was the father of Charles Moore and Joe Moore, both are doctors in Clanton. [my notes, Dora (Moore) Jones died about March, 1982.]

An Old Slate 150 Years Old
There has been left with The Union Banner by mr. Henley Moore an old school stale, which was used by his grandfather, John Moore, almost 150 years ago. John Moore born in 1792 is said to have come to this country from Georgia well over a hundred years ago. A son of his, William Moore, father of Curtis Moore, spent his lifetime on what is now the old Curtis Moore place near Cordrey's Old Mill. There is an old cemetery on the place, and most likely the original John Moore was buried in that burying ground. One of John Moore's daughters married Ruben Popwell, grandfather of Fate, Walter Popwell and Robert Popwell.
The old slate, which is on display at The Banner office, has passed through some interesting history, good times and trying times, but it is in fine shape -- just as good as it ever was. It is a treasured possession of Mr. Henly Moore.
