Jesse (Pete) Henley shown working on the new store that he built on the Northeast corner of the Wiswell Road - Crossland Road intersection in 1952. We moved into the upstairs living quarters the last part of December, 1952. Still no running water or indoor plumbing, but we had electricity. W. P. (Dub) Hurt and I began to dig a well at the northeast corner of the building, but ran into hardpan. Because it was close to the building we could not use dynamite, so we widened it out, plastered the walls, and made it into a cistern.
