Notes for Stanley O'Brien:
Headline: Editor, Gettysburg Times,
I want to thank those who helped me to vote. I'm in the Gettysburg Hopsital with large cell lymphoma "B" fast growing lymphoma. I had my first chemo treatment, and I'm in constant pain night and day. They said I'm too late to vote. My wife tried to get me an absentee ballot to vote. She was told that I was one day too late. The voting headquarters told me, my wife couldn't pick it up. I had to appear in person. I'm on the critical list and my poor wife is in a wheelchair with much pain and six weeks of healing. I asked Harry Stokes, commissioner, if he could help me. I just must vote, I always have. I'm 69 years old and not dead yet. My medical condition making it impossible to go for a ballot, he said he would try. Later, Judge Oscar Spicer called me at the hospital. I've been retired in Carroll Valley. I have been watching Harry Stokes and his competance amazes me. We need more men like this in government. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, gentlemen.

Between twin mounds of earth banked high with floral tributes of friends and relatives, the bodies of William C. Richardson and Clyde W. Musselman were laid to rest in adjoining graves on Wednesday afternoon. Earlier the Allison Funeral Home on Main St. in Fairfield was filled to capacity by nearly 200 friends, nieghbors and relatives who came to pay their last respects.
Between the two caskets, arranged parallel with the wall, stood the American flag, the emblem under which both men had fought with distinction in some of the major battles and invasions of World War II. At either side stood the colors of the Emmitsburg posts of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Hundreds of flowers surrouned the caskets. American flags covered the caskets. These were folded and presented to the widows of the two men, who sat in chairs provided for them between the two graves.
