The Heppolette family, as far back as we have been able to discover to date, has always been part of the Anglo-Indian community in India. See "Origin of the Anglo-Indian Community" below. Research is under way to discover the date, identity and nationality of the first male European to enter and start the Heppolette family in India. Watch this space for the anticipated results of this research!
"My father, Alfred Leslie Heppolette, was born in Agra, India in 1905. My mother was Marjorie Caroline Florence Rose, born 5 August 1904, also in India.
DAD's FATHER, Albert Josiah, was born in Madras, in 1870. Albert's father was George, born in 1842 in Ajmir, married first to Mary Roberts in 1867 and then to Gertrude Louisa Williams in 1882. George's brothers were Samuel and Benjamin and a sister Rachael, all from his father Emmanuel's first wife, Mary Knight. Emmanuel and Mary Knight (my gr. gr. grandparents) were married in 1832 in St. Mary's Church, Madras.
Emmanuel's father, and our earliest recorded ancestor to date, was Thomas Hyppolett, shown on his son's marriage certificate as a '2s/t Pensioned Trumpeter' We know Emmanuel was born in 1815, which gives his father Thomas a probable birth year of around 1790.
Both Samuel and Benjamin had large families and I have most of their details.
Emmanuel Hyppolet (spelling was not important in those days!) was born in 1815 and died in 1856 in Secunderabad. His second marriage was to Elisabeth Rose in 1845, in Kamptee, Nagpur. Children from this second marriage were Harriet, Rachel, John Edward, Jane, Alexander, William Alexander and Edwin Emmanuel.
John Edward married Lucy Anna Reid in 1876 in Nagpur and had 7 children. William and Edwin also had large families and I have most of these details also.
Emmanuel's brother Louis married Ellen Long in 1847, in Kamptee. They had eleven children, James Richard, Edwin, Amelia, Mary Ann, Charles Thomas, Jessie, Eliza, Jessie (again), Sarah Amelia, Edwin Emmanuel and Leonara. I have details of descendants of James Richard and his wife Eliza Pereira and descendants of Charles Thomas and his wife Elizabeth.
MUM's FATHER was Frank Albert Ranson Rose, born in Aurungabad in 1879 and married to Charlotte Francis Bond in Madras in 1899. Charlotte, born in 1881 in Vellore, was the daughter of Henry McDowell Bond and Caroline McKenzie, married in 1873 in Kurnool. Henry was the son of Benjamin Henry Bond and Grizella Laetitea Reed, married in 1845 in Trichinopoly.
Currently the tree contains over 1000 individuals. Mainly HEPPOLETTE, ROSE, RANSON, BRAY, REID, LENNON, SWEENEY, CLERKE, BOND, HARDING, MISST, McNAMARA, CULPEPER and, of course, their many associated inlaws and outlaws!
If any of these names mean anything to you, or you can add to the information given, or you would like to see more of the details, please let me know and I will gladly send you a copy of the family tree. Or, if you can let me have any names on your father's side, I can see if there is a connection and let you know accordingly."

We moved here to Arborfield in Berkshire on the 25th February 2005, mainly to escape from road traffic noise on the M4 Motorway! Also, the house is smaller and easier to maintain too!
So far we are very happy in it but have yet to make new friends in the area. Will keep you posted!

Eight of our nine grandchildren have grown up from babies while we have been here, so its seen a lot of love, parties, laughter ( and tears, of course!) and we were very sad to leave it on 25 Feb. 2005.

F15 Tapti Road, Bhusawal, Maharashtra State, was our home in India from 1939 up to when we left India for the UK on 11th. November 1948. The picture was taken during a visit in 1999. Surprisingly the house and gardens were almost (perhaps not quite!) exactly as we remembered. Certainly the brickwork in the garden was as my Dad had laid them 51 years earlier!!
