Notes for HENRY TERRELL MOZLEY:
He helt the hononary title of Colonel and was the second sheriff of Rabun Co.(1821-22); Clerk of the Inferior and Superior Courts (1824-32); State Rep. (1832); Justice of the Inferior Court (1852-53) and again (1857).He was one of the incorporators of th Blue Ridge Railroad which was promoted by John C. Calhoun and on the those involved in the planning of the Northeastern Railroad from Atlanta to Clayton.He was also an organizer of the Rabun Co. Mining Company.This info is copied from the information sent to me by Harvey Powers.He recieved this information from Dale McKinney of Siloam Springs, Ark. 12/94.Melody Hauch found him on a list of officers in the Georgia Militia for Rabun Co. for 1822 and his name is clearly recorded as "Henry T. Mozley".
In the Georgia Cherokee Land Lottery, 1838, Number 123; Dist. Seventh Dist., Second Section, Cherokee; Name Henry S. Mozley; Residence Keener's; Co. Rabun; Comment granted previous to the first day of January, 1838.
1850 census of Rabun Co., GA, pg. 326, handwritten page 649, Dist. 587: (Henry T. Mozeley is the census taker.)
This is obviously Henry Terrell Mozeley, but the name in the 1850 is difficult to read.I think it is "Henry".
