He married MISSOURI TAYLOR January 16, 1868 in Whitley County, Indiana, daughter of GEORGE TAYLOR and MARY TAYLOR. She was born November 03, 1851, and died January 26, 1921 in 8:30 A.M. at home in Union Twp., Whitley County, Ind. Buried at South Park Cem.

Otis Hartsel, Dies (name misspelled in paper)

Otis S. Hartsel, 80, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Eugene Juillerat, in Columbia Township. Monday night. Last August he fell and fractured his hip and on Jan. 13 the member was again fractured. Pneumonia developed and caused his death. he was born in Union township in 1846 and a civil war veteran.

Funeral services will be held at the Columbia City U. B. church this afternoon.

Otis Hertsel was in the Civil War. He fought with Co. "E" 17th Regiment, Indiana Volunteer Infantry. He was enrolled on the 26th day of February 1864 and honorably discharged at Macon, Georgia on the 8th day of August 1865.

Mrs Hertsel dies following Stroke Apoplexy     

Was Mother of twelve children --Nine of Whom Survive           

Mrs. Missouri Hertsel died Saturday morning at 8:30 o'clock at the Hertsel
home in Union Township. Death resulted from apoplexy. Mrs. Hertsel had not been in good health for some weeks and Thursday suffered the stroke-of apoplexy which resulted in her death.

Missouri Hertsel was born in Columbus, Ohio, November 3, 1851, to George W. and Mary Esther Taylor, deseased and at her death was aged 69 years, 2 months and 23 days. She came to Indiana at an early date and from that time up until her death resided in Whitely county. She was married Jan. 16, 1867, to Otis Hertsel, who survives. Twelve children were born to the union, three of whom preceded the mother in death.

The surviving children are Mrs. Henry Mannen of this city; Mrs. Eugene Juillerat of Columbia township; Mrs. August Juilerat of Washington township; Mrs. Herbert Cartwright of Fort Wayne; Mrs. Fred Baker of Lewiston, Idaho; Russell Hersel of Michigan; M. Glancy Hertsel of Columbia City; Virgil Hertsel of Troy township; and Velma Hertsel at home. Besides the nine children she is survived by two brothers, George Taylor of this city; and Frank Taylor of Tacoma, Washington.

Mrs. Taylor (Hertsel) was a member of the United Brethren church and was well and favorably known in the community in which she resided.

LAST RITES TO BE HELD SATURDAY FOR MRS. JUILLERAT

Mrs. Missouri Almeda Juillerat 88, Columbia Township, passed away at 2:00 o'clock Wednesday morning at Hillcrest Convalescent Home in Columbia City. She had been ill since 1948 when she fell and fractured her hip. She had been a patient at the convalescent home since May, 1960.

Mrs. Juillerat was born July 12, 1873 in Richland township to Otis and Missouri Taylor Hertsel. On April 28, 1898 she married Eugen Juillerat at the parsonage of the First E.U.B. church in Columbia City.

Surviving are a brother, Virgil Hertsel, 608 Line Street, South Whitley; a sister, Mrs. Void Hively, Thorncreek Township and several niece3s and nephgews. She was preceded in death by her husband on June 14, 1948, two brothers and four sisters.

Friends may call at the J. A. DeMoney and Son Funeral Home in Columbia City after 7:00 o'clock this evening. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock with the Rev. P. F. Young, paster of the First E. U. B. Church officiating. Burial will be in the South Park Cemetery.
