Fernando Javier Fernandez Jauregui of Fullerton, CAUpdated November 2, 2010 | |
| I am researching the Fernandez Jauregui family from Jalostotitlan, Jalisco, Mexico. Since 1650, when Alonso I Fernandez de Rueda, born in Valle de Toranzo, Santander, Spain, was buried in Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco, and his wife dona Ana de Anda-Altamirano settled in Jalostotitlan, ten generations of Fernandez lived in the Los Altos de Jalisco region. In the early 1900s, Marcelino Fernandez came to the United States of America looking for a better life. A hundred years later, four generations of Fernandez live in California and still maintain strong ties with our Jalisco past. The most prominent surname in my family tree is Jauregui. Both my parents inherit several lines of Jaureguis and, are thus, related. Ramirez and Ulloa are also very strong bloodlines in my family tree, for they, as well as the Jaureguis and the Fernandezs represent the family fabrics that have been woven in our little corner of the world for almost five centuries. PS: Although my family name is Fernandez, my grandfather had his name misspelled Hernandez when he came to the US. Thus, all our history in the US is under Hernandez. |
