| A few years ago, I visited Gettysburg with my son's Boy Scout Troop. That visit turned out to be the beginning of a seemingly never ending journey into the world of genealogy. With the many statues and monuments of General James Longstreet and the fact that my maiden name was Longstreet, the question naturally arose ... were we related? And so the quest began. It has been an incredible journey and with the help of all the family, I have been able to put together a family tree that now consists of over 1,000 names. The list of surnames included are Longstreet, Herron, Querry, Johnson, Ward, Apgar, Osborn, Compton, Littell, Crotsley, Smith, Moore, and many more. The progenitors of the family settled primarily in New Jersey and Pennsylvania and my direct branch of the family still resides there. If any one visiting my home page can use any of this information to expand their own family heritage, please feel free. Likewise, if anyone has any information that can be added to mine, it would be most appreciated. |
