I have been researching my Thoreson (Thoresen, Toresen) and Hermanson (Hermansen) families for years. Both families originated in Norway, mainly from the Eidskog and Grue area's. Settling eventually in Blue Hill Township, Sherburne County, Minnesota.

In 1868, my great-grandfather Ole Hermansen arrived in America with his wife Eli Larsen and two children Hans Hermansen age 3 and Gina Hermansen age 1. Seven additional children were born in America, they are: Lars, Ole, Emma, Matilda, Albert (my grandfather), Carl and Brady.

In 1905, my great-grandfather Gunder Thoresen arrived in America. A year later his second wife Thea Martinsen arrived with their two sons, Ralph age 13, Einor age 10 and Gunder's daughter Kaja Thoresen age 18 (my grandmother). Gunder's two older children Thorval and Elida had already arrived in America in 1903 and his youngest daughter Paula age 16 remained with her maternal grandparents in Norway.

I am researching the following Norwegian surnames - Hermansen, Olsen, Gulbrandsen, Arnesen, Thoresen, Toresen, Pedersen, Evensen, Larsen, Bentsen, Syversen, Embretsen, Knutsen, Kulblik, Bergersen, Hansen, Hakonsen, Haagensen, Kristoffersen and the following farm names - Almenningen, Klandrud, Nygaard, Kulblik, Sagen, Rambol.

I welcome all family, friends and guests to my genealogy page. This page reflects an ongoing project, so I encourage you to stop back often. If you see anything here which is incorrect, or have any information that would help fill in the gaps, I would love to hear from you. I hope you enjoy learning about my heritage as much as I enjoy piecing it together.
