The Herzog's

Updated May 18, 2007

Paul Joseph Herzog, Jr.

Clayton, NC 27527

The search for my ancestors began in mid August of 1999. I was cleaning out my workshop and came across an old briefcase that I was going to throw out. Although the briefcase felt empty, something told me to take a look inside. I was surprised to find a picture of my father's parents and his siblings, taken sometime before he was even born. That picture sparked my curiosity and my research began shortly thereafter.
I have been researching the ancestry of the family names Herzog (OH,Switzerland), Carder (WV), Bowen (OH,MI), and Jones (WV)surnames. The last one should be the easy one since it is so uncommon. Yeah right!

My father, Paul Joseph Herzog, Sr. is a first generation American. His father, Edward Herzog, was a native of Switzerland.

Deepest thanks to my mother's cousin, Bud Carder, who supplied me with more information on the Carder family than I could ever imagine locating in my lifetime.

The Bowen's that I have information on are: my grandmother Julia Mary Bowen, her father, Edwin RH Bowen, her mother Elizabeth Glosser, and her brothers John Fred Bowen, and Lester Bowen.

The Jones family information that I have is the most limited of all. My grandfather David Lonard Jones was the son of William Jones and Harriett Lenora Hogue.

I have also been working to locate information on my wife's family. I am seeking information on the Graham (VA), Fitzgerald(NC), Owen (NC), and Owens (NC) surnames on her father's side and Dix (NC), and Caulder (NC) on her mothers.
