The Herkowski Family Home Page

I have been researching my husband's family line, the HERKOWSKIs of Milwaukee, Wisconsin for approximately 20 years. Much of the family has stayed within Milwaukee County since they arrived. John Herkowski(b. May 9, 1851) married to Barbara Rozanowski came to American in the early 1890's. Other names in the family line are KUPKOWSKI, JANIKOWSKI, KOLBERG, MEKKA, and WICEK. I am trying to make that wonderful leap across the ocean to Poland.His son Joseph listed the following information on is petition for naturalization: emigrated from the port of Antwerp, Belgium on or about Aug. 5, 1890 and arrived at the port of Philadelphia on the 17th of August 1890. I cannot find any record of John and Barbara's crossing. Thier son, Joseph, did list his place of birth as Dirschau, Germany on Jan 23, 1877.

Any information would be appreciated. Iam also willing to share any information that I have.
