ANNA CHRISTINA SCHMIDT (b. March 19, 1819, d. March 18, 1894)
Notes for ANNA CHRISTINA SCHMIDT:
Anne Christine Schmidt was born March 19, 1819 to Michael Schmidt.Gustav Hein said in the
1920 census that his mother was born in Posen.Itcan be assumed that he meant the
administrative district of Posen, not the city or the state of Posen (now Poznan Poland).
This would mean that she was not born in Gembitz-Hauland but could have been born in
a village as little as a mile away.
After Freiderich Wilhelm died she remarried a man with the last name Buetler.Nothing is
known about this marriage except that he probably died prior to 1885 when Anne Christine
emigrated to America with her son-in-law and daughter, August & Marie Erdmann,
and their four children. They came to America aboard the ship Frisia land in New York
May 19, 1885.Anne Christine lived in the Breman, Minnesota area for four years
after she immigrated and then moved to Willow City, North Dakota to homestead with the
Erdmanns in 1889.
On April 22, 1891 she purchased the southwest 160 acres of section 36 in Township 160 North
and 76 West in Bottineau County for $200.After she died this land was Quit Claimed by her
children to August Erdmann.
She must have returned to the Bremen area in the late winter of 1894 for a visit. She died
there on March 18, 1894 and was buried in the Bremen church cemetery on March 22, 1894.
