Find Family

My great grandparents were Melvin White and Lena Mae Perry. They were married November 24, 1901 and had 13 children. To friends and family they were know as Daddy Melvin and Granny Mae. Daddy Melvin was a gospel preacher for the Church of Christ and preached the first sermon in the Mill Creek Church of Christ on October 25, 1953. They were responsible for starting the White Family Reunion held the fourth Sunday of May every year. I was born in 1952 and going to the reunion is one of the most vivid memories that I have. The weather seemed to always be perfect, and there was gospel singing which always included my dad, Darwin Adkins and his brother Ray. At some time during the day groups of people would make their way up the path to the top of the mountain to place some flowers on graves in the family cemetary. The home place is still there, on the Long Fork of Mill Creek with several relatives living on the property. But the reunion is held in the Chief Logan State Park now, and we still get lots of people from all over that come to remember.
My paternal grandmother, Ruth White married Wildie Adkins and they had 10 children. I am also looking for information on the Adkins side. I would be happy to share my information with anyone. You can reach me via my e-mail address.
