John William Hickerson (son of Thomas B. Hickerson and Mary "Molley" Childers) was born November 07, 1876 in Marion County, Tennessee, and died August 04, 1956 in MT ZION CEM YELL CO ARK. He married Maude Crayton Barnett on September 10, 1905 in Yell County, Dardanelle, Arkansas.
Notes for John William Hickerson: Lived on Bethel Road between Hwy 27 and Hwy 151 (Road to Mt. Nebo). He lived close to the Barnette Cemetery. Son N.B. was born at this location.
Mr. John Hickerson taught sunday school classes at his church at Wild Cat Holler. He was a humble man.
Note: The was a clock on a tree at Wild Cat Holler so that you could use it to phone friends. Mrs. Hickerson bought a clock and hung it close to the phone to time Mr. Hickerson.
Hit by pick up vehicle on August 4, 1956 on old Hgy 65, now Hgy 165 at foot of Bridge, North Side, and died instantly. Buried at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Yell County, Arkansas. Rev. D.A. Reed officiated. Pall bearers were: Roy, Coy, and Lloyd Hodges, long-time friends, Kent and Herbert Barnette, and George Bratton.
Arkansas Democrat article: Former Delaware Man Injured Fatally Saturday. Funeral services for Will Hickerson, 79, formally of near Delaware, Arkansas, who died Saturday at his home in North Little Rock, Arkansas, was held at Mt. Zion Cemetery, officiated, Burial will be at the cemetery. Survivors are one daughter Melissa Cochran of Angleton, TX., Three sons, James Hickerson of Dardanelle, Newland and Arthur Hickerson both of N. Little Rock. Three sisters.
Mr. Hickerson was injured fatally when hit by a pickup truck on Highway 65, near the roadside grocery store, while attempting to cross the highway. He died instantly. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church 47th and Allen, NLR, Arkansas.
