James PORTE (b. 1798, d. 1854)

James PORTE (son of William PORTE and Sarah HICKS) was born 1798 in Picton, Prince Edward, Ontario, Canada, and died 1854 in Lucan, ON. He married Mary PATRICK on Feb 1823 in St. Cronan's Church, Roscrea, Ireland.

Notes for James PORTE:
In the parish register, the name is spelled "PORT" and James Porte then brought his family to Canada, landing at Culbertson's Wharf in Deseronto, Bay of Quinte in June 1837.

James Porte is buried in St. James Cemetery in Lucan. On the grave stone the name is spelled PORTT.

He was born in Roscrea in 1798, died in Lucan 1854. He was the first Clerk of the Township of Biddulph.
