Notes for C
ARL OLOF SAHLBOM:
His godparents were the coppersmith Johan Brims and his wife, the apprentice Carl Olof Lidstrom and the young woman Maja Stina Hammarsten.

On 6 Dec 1838, Carl Olof Sahlbom and his young wife, Christina Zetterdahl, moved from the city of Soderhamn to Hudvigsvall Parish, in Galveborg County. They resided in the first quadrant of the city. When they transferred their church membership from Soderhamn, the paster noted that they had both last been to Holy Communion on 4 March 1838.

The reason that they moved before they had any children was so that Carl Olof could receive training for his apprenticeship to become a master craftsman making the ceramic tile fireplaces that were used in all of the larger and fancier buildings in the city of Ostersund and in the more affluent homes in the countryside.

On 26 Oct 1840 the family moved into the city and parish of Ostersund, Kopperberg County, where Carl Olof worked for about seven years. About 1847, the family moved to Offerdal Parish in Jamtland County. They were last recorded at Holy Communion in Ostersund on 29 Nov 1846.

Carl Olof died at just 44 years, 11 months and 26 days of age. In the death records, his cause of death was omitted. At the time, the family was living in the village of Ede in Offerdal Parish. Carl Olof and his wife, Christina, had last been to church on Communion Sunday on the 21st of August, four months before his death.

After Carl Olof's death, the family fell into poverty and were listed as such in the church records. While still very young, their son, Carl Frederick, went to work as a day laborer in his home village of Ede, taking work where he could find it.
