His godparents were V. Malmberg, T. Sahlbom, August Dahlstedt, and Mathilda Sahlbom, plus N. Kallberg and Elena Dahlstedt. (Nils Kollberg married Inga Elina Dahlstedt.) On 7 May 1886, Mathilda went to the pastor's office and was issued certificate number 32, also stating that she and Olaf were traveling to America to join Anton. They, too, sailed on the steamship HEKLA, and arrived in New York on 28 May 1886.

Olaf attended Sehome Grade School. He was a tallyman at E. K. Woods Company. Moved to Ephrata, Washington, and was in partnership with Bellingham lawyer, Mr. Peringer, and bought a fruit orchard. He came back to Bellingham after the death of his first wife, Anna Marie, in 1917.

Olaf Sahlbom, Long-Time Resident, Dies
After a residence of fifty years in Bellingham, Olaf Sahlbom, 58, passed away Friday evening at the home, 2021 King Street. His last illness was short. Surviving relatives are the widow, Mrs. Marie Sahlbom; one daughter, Mrs. Byron Meyer, Walden, Mass.; three sons, George, in the United States Navy, Kenneth and Eugene, at home. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by the Homer Mark funeral home.

Also parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Sahlbom, 713 Maple street. Funeral service will be conducted Saturday forenoon, July 28, at 10:30 o'clock from the undertaking parlors of A. G. Wickman, 1146 Elk Street, Rev. J. A. Levin, pastor of the Emmanuel Lutheran church, officiating. Interment to be made in Bayview Cemetery.

She is buried as Marie Sahlbom in Bayview Cemetery, Bellingham, Washington, in Section #3, Lot #22, Grave #8, showing cause of death on cemetery records as tuberculosis.
