John Frazee was the youngest child of James Lytle & Susannah (Harris) Frazee. Born 5 Feb 1841 in Clinton Co, Ind. He was 11 yrs old when the family moved to Iowa. He attended Upper State Univ in Fayette, Iowa, for a time, and was a freshman in the Class of 1865. John married Cyrena Sarah Beckwith and they had 6 known children - 3 to die in their childhood - 2 of diphtheria. John taught some in the county schools. He was a farmer. He also served two terms in the Iowa State legislature - 1894 & 1896. In the 1880 Census record for Chickasaw twp, we find his father, James Lytle Frazee, age 76, in the household. In the 1900 Census, his brother-in-law, David O Beckwith, is found living in the household. John passed away on November 7, 1917, as was buried beside his beloved wife, who preceded him in death in 1909. They are buried in Beckwith Cemetery in Floyd County, Iowa.
