Ben is the son of David & Jane (Moore) Headley.
He served in the Civil War in Company(H)of the 101st Ind. Vol.Infantry Regiment of the United States. He was wounded in the Battle of Chickamauga in Georgia and was discharged. Ben had no children to survive him - 2 sons David Morrison Headley and Seth Thomas Headley dying in 1882 and losing four children in infancy. He was married 8 times according to his brother's statement.
