Notes for NATHANIEL PERRY CANTER:
In 1860 census is listed as a saddler.

Born in Rowan County and resided in Wilkes County (formed from Rowan County) where he was by occupation a farmer prior to enlisting in the Confederate Army at age 39, March 1, 1862. Mustered in as a corporal, discharged on May 20, 1862, by reason of being overage (A Roster of North Carolina Troops, 1861-1865, Vol XIII, Infantry).

Notes for GEORGE W. CANTER:
Resided in Wilkes County and enlisted (Co. B, 1st Regiment, NC Troops) in Wake County at age 21, 5/31/1861 for the war. Discharged 7-8/1862.

In 1880 cenus is listed as being in Watauga County, NC (Boone Township).
