I am descended from Samuel and Clarissa Holloway. Samuel is believed to have been born in England around 1755. He came to America around the time of the Revolutionary War. He married Clarissa Holloway, presumably here in America (but possibly in England.) It is believed that Clarissa was born in Virginia (but possibly in England.) They had three sons and two daughters, all of whom were born in or around Caroline Co., Va. Samuel was hung for the murder of Gawin (William) Summerson on August 8, 1808. Several years later Clarissa and her children moved to Fayette Co., KY where her two daughters and one son (George) were married. Henry, her oldest son, was married in nearby Clark Co., to his first cousin, Elizabeth Holloway. After about 10 years, Clarissa and her family moved to Henry Co., KY where her youngest son, William, was married. Some years later, her son Henry moved to Monroe Co, MO and her son George moved to Clinton, IL. Her daughter Elizabeth died in Clark Co. KY where she died shortly after the death of her second child. Elizabeth's husband, John Sharp(e) moved to Pendleton Co., KY. after her death. Nancy and her husband, William Pickett, moved near her brother Henry in Monroe Co., MO. William, the youngest son stayed in Henry Co. where that branch of the family lived for 4 more generations. The surnames of my other great grandparents are LeMaster/LaMaster, Harlan, Flood, Washburn, Gullion, Hicks, Tingle. Also included is a report on my wife's Robertson ancestors and relatives.
